A magical setting

Nestled in the hills of historic Appin in the Scottish Highlands, Kinlochlaich House is the perfect base for exploring this special area and all it has to offer. The country house and its three cosy, self-catering apartments are located in a fairytale setting, minutes from the sea and surrounded by mountains, woodland and beautiful gardens.

Despite its tranquility, Kinlochlaich is conveniently located, lying between Fort William and Ben Nevis in the Lochaber area, known as the 'Outdoor Capital of the UK', and the popular town of Oban, the ‘Seafood Capital of Scotland’ and ‘Gateway to the Isles’. The grandeur of Glencoe, with its stunning scenery, popular walks and climbs, is just on the doorstep.
The three well-equipped apartments are comfortable and welcoming, with views of the countryside and fabulous walks right from the garden.

The apartments are a perfect base for exploring the magnificent countryside and the outdoor activities the area is famous for, including:walking, climbing, cycling, paddleboarding, sailing, canoeing and diving. There is also a wealth of historical, cultural and spiritual interest to be found in Appin and its surroundings.  Or perhaps you will just most enjoy finding inspiration in the peace and tranquility of Kinlochlaich and its wildlife, a chance to properly get away from it all.

Make sure to book your stay today -

Abi and family look forward to welcoming you soon!

About

Get away to the heart of nature

Kinlochlaich House is a historic, listed country house which is surrounded by wildflower gardens and woodland, and home to Abi and her family.  Looking over the sea to the mountains of Morvern and the famous Castle Stalker, the house is in a wonderfully sheltered spot. Next door is Kinlochlaich Gardens, with a rare octagonal walled garden, Bluebell Woodland Walk and nursery - truly a plant lovers paradise.

The self-catering accommodation at Kinlochlaich House is part of the characterful building, dating back to the 1700s and 1800s. The rooms are cosy and well-equipped, with excellent standards of cleanliness.

There are wonderful walks immediately from Kinlochlaich and a Sustrans bike track just minutes away which runs the 48 miles from Oban to Fort William. The world famous beauty of Glencoe lies just 15 minutes away by car and the bustling town of Oban, 25 minutes away.

We are very lucky to be surrounded by a breathtaking range of scenery- mountains, coast, ancient woodland, moorland, meadows and lochs. The spectacular landscape and wildlife at Kinlochlaich make it perfect for nature lovers, photographers and artists all year round. Enjoy a drink in the garden watching the many species of bird - from goldcrests to eagles - that visit or live in the grounds. Deer can usually be seen (and in autumn heard!), and you might be lucky to see Red Squirrels in the tops of our ancient oaks. On summer evenings, the gardens are bustling with bats, hedgehogs and owls.

Otters, pine martens, seals and dolphins are also found very close by. Or wander down to experience the sunset looking across to Castle Stalker and the beautiful island of Lismore, once a centre of Celtic Christianity.

There are fabulous restaurants, cafes and pubs nearby, serving good, local food, and the lovely village of Port Appin has a village shop ten minutes away.
